About Me

Hello!
I’m Jacob Hahn,
and I pride myself in being an ambitious, hardworking, and passionate person. Much of this passion of mine is targeted towards sports. I strive to work in the sports industry one day, and have already taken several steps to chase that dream. Having grown up close to the industry, I have been able to learn a lot about the inner workings of a professional sports franchise. I hope to utilize the knowledge I have gained to forge my own unique path in sports.
For now however, I am first and foremost a student. I attend Rice University in Houston, Texas, where I am currently a Senior at Martel College. Choosing Rice in the first place was a difficult decision. The vast majority of my high school peers from suburban Chicago went off to large Big-Ten state schools alongside several friends. Instead, I took on a challenge by traveling to a state I’d never even been to before in order to attend this small but prestigious university. Rice’s small size allows me to stand out in ways that would have been nearly impossible at a 40,000 student school. Going off of the beaten path also forced me to be more outgoing and resourceful as I settled in at a brand new place. Most importantly, Rice’s #1 Sports Management Program and nationally-renowned School of Engineering proved to be a great academic fit for a determined student like myself. I have enjoyed taking classes in Sports Management, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, Math, and more through my first six semesters. I look forward to continuing to improve my problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and communication skills over the rest of my time at Rice.
Outside of the classroom, I am involved in several activities at school and back home in the suburbs of Chicago. During my very first week on campus here, I joined the Rice Baseball Analytics Team. Here, I have learned how to use cutting-edge video and data tracking equipment to help the coaching staff maximize the performance of their team. Please explore the other tabs of my portfolio site to learn more about my role with Rice Baseball and my other experiences and activities. Through everything I do, I keep a positive, growth mindset and aim to improve my problem-solving, analytical, communication and leadership skills.
Reach out via email or Linkedin if you would like to chat. I am always looking to connect with peers or professionals!
